From A to B: Walking Meditation
This project explores walking as a meditation - small temporal movements explored through the observation of light, shadow and surface in various locations around England, Europe and the United States.
Henry Cartier-Bresson once remarked that ‘photography is an action, painting a meditation’. These photographic diptychs are located between these poles. Exposures made from standard photographic time frame 1/125th of a second taken over several steps engenders contemplation of two decisive moments generating a third ‘meditative space.
To walk and photograph is to project an experience of landscape over time. To depict minimal change or event invites reflection on the nature of the spaces depicted, expanding the experience of everyday activities and observations.
